Wireless LAN lightning protection solution

I. Overview

Direct lightning strikes are mainly damage caused by directly hitting WLAN system equipment. Lightning electromagnetic pulses mainly pass through The feeder, network cable, power supply and other lines cause damage to the equipment.  
  2. Difficult points of lightning protection In
  WLAN systems, outdoor wireless APs are located on the roof or towers, etc., because it is difficult to obtain power and wiring. In most cases, POE power supply is used, and the POE switch is often tens of meters away from the AP. In the case of lightning strikes, the network cable in this distance is likely to form lightning electromagnetic pulses. The lightning electromagnetic pulses invade the wireless AP or POE switch along the network cable, causing equipment damage.
  According to the characteristics of POE itself, the maximum reliable transmission distance of POE is 100 meters. When a lightning protection device or other equipment is installed in the middle, problems such as signal attenuation and power loss are likely to occur, and the power, communication effect, and transmission distance cannot be guaranteed. Very high requirements are put forward on the performance of the lightning arrester.

Lightning electromagnetic pulse is an electromagnetic field generated by lightning strikes, which causes overvoltages in WLAN system feeders, network cables, and power lines to invade equipment and cause damage. The characteristic of lightning electromagnetic pulse is that it is easy to cause damage to a range of several kilometers, so it has become the focus of lightning protection. WLAN system needs to install PR-F feeder surge protector, SNH-RJ45/POE network power surge protector on AP feeder port and network port respectively, and install SNH-RJ45/POE/160 network power surge protector on POE switch .
